Magnesium Alloy Die Casting Release Agent [2011-08-01]

The main function of the release agent is forming a continuous protecting film on the cavity surface to help the die casted items falling from the mould and cool down the mould cavity and shorten the casting circulated period.

The users must be careful when select the release agent according to requirements of die casting alloy, casted item and the mould characteristics. So long as Magnesium alloy, we should pay attention to following principles.

1)      Please consider the best dilution ratio, blowing and chip removal strength and the painting amount to ensure form continuous protecting film.

2)      Please select the release agent which doesn’t damage the casted item so much.

3)      Don’t choose the release agent which has excessive paraffin to avoid forming more residue deposition on the surface of the cavity.

4)      Please choose the release agent which accord with casted construction, shape, and dimension. Compare with Aluminum alloy, the magnesium alloy liquid and cavity have the characteristics of low affinity, short solidification time, large solidification shrinkage, complicated surface processing such as rust proof and paint. Besides, the foundry returns is easy to contaminate because of release agent especially these think Mg alloy casted items which ask high precision requirement.
